Tung Ting or Dong Ding was introduced in the island from Fujian ,China in the mid-nineteenth century. Lu Gu or Lu Ku in the state of Nantou was the place chosen to plant the tea plants that would produce the leaves to manufacture this wonderful tea in a similar way as it is done for Tie Guan Yin. Despite not being a high altitude tea (700-800 m.a.s.l.), the tea makers of the place, proud of their ancient traditions and knowledge acquired about their appreciated "floral treasure" get a product of extraordinary value. An oxidation of around 30%, hand rolled in spherical shape and drying with charcoal give this tea an intense floral aroma and a creamy and lemony flavor.
