Matcha Otsuka

In the late 1860s, the samurai Genpei Otsuka was rewarded by the lord of Kagegawa Castle, a vassal of Shogun Ieyashu Tokugama, with land to cultivate.

Five generations later, his descendant, Mr. Hiroshi Otsuka, and his family maintain and manage the family estate, cultivating and producing tea of ​​the highest quality.

This mountainous location is blessed with fertile soil, springs, streams, morning mists, and gentle sea breezes from the Pacific Ocean, all of which the Otsuka family meticulously cares for. The rows of perfectly aligned and pruned trees, bearing excellent varieties, appear sculpted.

To nourish them, they use a mixture of organic fertilizer and seeds, which they cover with straw. This provides the nitrogen and amino acids that, absorbed through the roots, promote growth and enhance the flavor of the tea infusion.
