More information
Okayti Garden is one of the oldest tea plantations and factories in the prestigious Darjeeling region, not in vain, having been established in 1870. Its first name was Rangoo and it soon gained fame and recognition for being the only “okay tea”, the words to which it owes its name today.
Located in the Mirik Valley, the estate covers an area of 648 hectares, of which 209 are planted with tea trees at an altitude ranging from 1,200 to 1,900 m above sea level. A mineral-rich soil, a subtropical climate, morning mists, fresh mountain air and sustainable practices combine to offer an ideal location for growing tea. The plants of the Chinese variety, with small and fragrant leaves, are pruned to 70 cm to facilitate the work of the pickers. Once at the factory, they are exquisitely manufactured; an excellent classification is followed by a very well-crafted rolling with medium oxidation.
